Myself, Christine Yi

I am a passionate student with a diverse educational background and a commitment to making a positive impact in my community. My journey through international education has allowed me to explore both South Korea and the United States, broadening my perspectives and nurturing my understanding of multicultural education. Additionally, I have honed my skills through various internships, including a political internship, where I collaborated on articles and research projects that fostered my interest in policy and economics. Beyond academics, I express myself through music, competing in cello and earning recognition in several prestigious competitions. I also enjoy writing, with published works such as “Navigating a Bicultural Identity” reflecting my passion for cultural exploration.

Supplies For Success

Founder and Project Manager

Nonprofit project that empowers students in underserved communities by providing essential school supplies. Founded “Supplies for Success” to promote educational equity, organizing over 6 donation drives to support Paterson’s schools. Established donation stations in local libraries, cafés, and community centers, fostering a diverse network of supporters.
Mission: Equip every student with essential tools to start school, regardless of background

Political Internship

Intern

Researched political issues and policy matters and collaborated with interns to publish an article about political topics. Analyzed economic and geographic data of New Jersey, presenting findings and enhancing communication skills in collaboration with Robert Auth, Assemblyman for New Jersey’s 39th Legislative District

Assistant Teacher

Assisted students under 10 in learning Korean, adhering to educational guidelines from the Korean Consulate General in NY. Collaborated with teachers and assisted in preparing lesson materials

KCC Cello Teacher

Instructor

Delivered music education to three students elementary students to middle school students. Integrated music theory, technical training, and emotional expression to deepen students’ understanding of cello performance. Created personalized music curriculum according to each student’s level and proficiency

Hana Mission [100+ hours]

Volunteer

Volunteered with a Christian nonprofit ministry serving socially marginalized and under-resourced members. Organized stock and created appealing displays at a vintage clothing shop in Paterson, NJ (40hrs/wk). Prepared and served nutritious meals for approximately 50 homeless individuals, ensuring nutrients for their health

Ainos Cello Tutor [40+ hours]

Instructor

Volunteered as a cello tutor at Ainos, a nonprofit organization, improving technique and preparing an 8th-grade student for an upcoming concert. Conducted 2 preparation sessions, resulting in significant progress and enhanced performance at the concert by the end of April
